We are proud to announce that “Baozha!” has won the Best Animated Film at National Youth Film Awards 2017 yesterday!
We want to thank the jury and organising committee of NYFA, my supervising Professor Hannes Rall, Mr Davis Vu, Mr Ronald Fong, Professor Davide Benvenuti, and our awesome animation schoolmates for all the help, feedback, and words of encouragement. Of course, a big thank you to all of our family and friends who are so understanding throughout the busy one year in the making of “Baozha!”
“Baozha!” has a Facebook page now! Head on over to
See y’all there!
It’s been a year since Baozha! was completed… Time really flies when you are not looking. What might the team have become? We are now working adults, some of us still finding ourselves, haha.
Baozha! has gone on to participate in several film festivals and screenings, and even won two awards. Most notably, Jolene and myself attended the Tokyo Anime Award Festival, which was a great experience.
Here are two drawings I did one night, when I was feeling a little nostalgic about the good ol’ days. now that I think about it, they are more like fan art of my own character if anything, with a different look from the original.
“Baozha!” premiered in Animation Nation 2016 last Saturday! Huge thanks to Michael Lim and Sherman Ho from the Singapore Film Society who made this festival possible. It was great seeing our film screened alongside other films, and it was a pleasure being able to speak to Adam Elliot as well as Qing Sheng.
In other news, “Baozha!” has been selected for exhibition at the 1st International Animated Short Film Festival AJAYU 2016!

Our last steps: graduation show and film screening.
We compiled our artworks into a process booklet. You can view it here:

Baozha! sticker designs by Jasper Liu for our graduation show. The Baozha/Granny hybrid is not in the film, by the way.
